As you will soon see the “crew” is a ship run by one captain, me, Melissa Johnston. I am a solopreneur who values minimalism and has a passion for design.
Flag 5 is a collaborative studio that focuses on branding and graphic design, but I work with amazing businesses on certain projects to help in areas where I’m unable to. So at times you are working with just me and other times it means you will be working with Flag 5 and other businesses to get the job done. Each business that comes aboard is highly recommended and they help to ensure all cargo (projects) are perfect before they arrive to our clients.
Y’ello! I’m Melissa Johnston
Owner, Graphic Designer, and Brainstormer of Things I’m a graphic designer by trade and have over 20 years of experience. I worked in corporate communications doing design for 7 years and freelanced on the side. In 2012, I opened my first studio space and haven’t looked back. I love being an entrepreneur and the work/life flexibility that comes from having my own business. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t come without challenges, but there is nothing I’d rather be doing!
I love working with businesses and also sharing my knowledge. I have been fortunate to work at Medicine Hat College in their Art & Design department from time-to-time and help educate the next generation of graphic designers!
When I’m not working, I can be found reading, gardening, painting, camping, hanging out with my family, or binging watching some of my favourite shows.
